The Imperfections of Andrea

September 9th, 2010

I got an interesting email the other day. It's completely off topic, but something I thought I could have fun with. The girl (who chose to remain anonymous despite my convincing pleas) asked... Andrea, what DON'T you do?

So I thought about it.
I write.
I clean my house.
I walk my dogs.
I love working out.
I enjoy music.
I work. Hard. EXTREMELY hard.

But that question still hung over my head- what DON'T I do?

Instead of another frivelous list talking about how awesome I am, what movies I suggest, what actors I have mad crushes on-- I'm going to give you a real list. One that kills my quest to be the most amazing person you know.

Here's what I SUCK at.

Romance
I've never been a romantic girl. I said it once and I'll say it again- chick flicks piss me off. I'd rather watch someone get their throat slit. But it spills into my personal life. I SUCK at romantic gestures. Even when my future husband proposed I somehow made it awkward-- but I guess the fact that I'm not ugly outweighs the flunking grade I got in Romance 101.

Right, fellas?

Cooking
I bake just about anything. Cookies. Cakes. Banana Bread. Pies. But when it comes to cooking a full meal- I suck ass. I somehow managed to pull off a Thanksgiving turkey for the past few years, but don't ask me to throw a lasagna together for next week's dinner party. More than likely, you'll end up calling for pizza.

Singing
Little known fact- I'm a classically trained flute player. I studied the instrument from the time I was 5 through high school. I can still play some mean Beethoven, but don't ask me to sing. My voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard combined with a shrill scream. It's THAT bad.

Dieting
I work in Hollywood. My image is spread across the Internet, magazines, television- you name it, I've become a bit of a D-list celebrity. But I HATE dieting and watching my weight. I do it- just like everyone else I know- but I suck at it. I would much rather devour a Big Mac and fries than a salad. I guess the reason I don't weigh 299 pounds is because I DO love exercise. Kind of evens things out, huh?

And finally...

Driving
I can drive. I've had my license since I was 16. I guess the problem is I love to speed, I hate stop signs, and I have a tendency to text and steer. I'm one of those dangerous drivers Dateline NBC talks about. Throw in a little road rage and you have a road hazard in the making.

Hope this list made you not only feel better about your imperfections, but helped you realize that people in this business are NOT perfect. We are who we are, down to the very last imperfection.

Don't change for stardom. In the end, it won't be worth it.

Peace, Love and Heartbreak ♥
A

Just to clarify... not claiming to be a celebrity. Just working my way through the business... and if you had balls, you'd post it under your real name sweetheart. ;)
